Myles Powell scored a season-low 10 points in Seton Hall’s victory over New Hampshire, 77-57. It was a quiet scoring night for Seton Hall’s best player, however, he did a solid job in the role of distributor and setup his teammates.

“I think he did a really good job of not forcing a lot,” said coach Kevin Willard. “I thought he did a good job of kind of just ‘If they’re going to take me away then I got to figure out how to find my other guys’.”

Powell’s presence was enough to help set up Quincy McKnight (18 points), Myles Kale (14 points) and Sandro Mamukelashvili (14 points). All who had season highs in scoring. Powell tied his season high in assists with 4 but if Seton Hall is going to have a chance against Kentucky, this Saturday, then Powell is going to have to improve that along with his scoring.

Kentucky, the ninth ranked team in the country, averages 84.4 points per game. Seton Hall needs Powell to go beyond his scoring average, 22.4 points per game, to keep pace with the Wildcats.

Powell has shown he can carry the team with his scoring. In an 82-75 win against, Grand Canyon, the junior scored 40 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists. A performance like that is what it’s going to take to beat Kentucky.

After a season-opening loss to Duke, Kentucky has won their last seven straight games. Seton Hall, picked up a nice win against New Hampshire after losing a tough game to Louisville, last Saturday.

Kevin Willard has a lot of confidence in his junior guard.

“I think he is the best player in the conference and he just needs to get that mentality that he is the best player in the conference,” said Willard, when asked what he wants to see from Powell this Saturday.
